After nearly 45 years of devoted service to the Gunnison Valley, Sue Noone is retiring. Noone helped grow ABBA Eye Care into what it is today. After being hired in February 1981, Noone helped care for community members with a gentle reliance that no one is able to forget.

The Gunnison Valley is no stranger to thrift stores, but the community’s newest thrift spot is doing things a little differently. Making Change officially opened on Nov. 1 and has already become a staple for community members.

Three new faces have joined the team at the Gunnison Country Times. Katie Lewinger is a new account executive, Olivia Wilson is a new reporter and Jack Sellner is a sports reporter.

For Jackki Ruiz, giving back is all about connection. Ruiz has been sharing singing telegrams with the community for the past few weeks, performing for any occasion from holidays to birthdays and everything in between.

Two new murals are coming to Gunnison by the end of the month. The murals were selected from a contest that was held for art students from Western Colorado University and will be permanently installed at two Discount Self Storage locations by the end of the month. 

The Gunnison Country Chamber of Commerce announced this week that local businesses are opening their doors for special Sunday holiday hours. Sunday Shopping Strolls run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 7 and Dec. 14.

Nov. 10 marked Gunnison County’s inaugural Take a Turkey to Work Day, and local businesses stepped up to help neighbors experiencing food insecurity obtain the ingredients needed to prepare a holiday meal.
