Longtime Gunnison Valley resident West Kelso passed away at his home on Dec. 12, 2025, at 80 years of age. West managed a propane company from 1985 until he suffered a stroke in 2007. He lived in Quartz Creek Valley before moving closer to Gunnison.
West was proud of his military service, having served six years in the Navy. He loved the mountains and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Ever the fix-it man, he always had a project in the works. Even following the stroke, he never lost his penchant for tools.
West is survived by his wife of 53 years, Linda Morgen Kelso, sisters Donna Posada (Cres) and Melody Sebastian (Mark), brothers Lloyd Robertson, Alfred Kelso (Patricia), Ronald Kelso (Faye) and David Kelso (Janet), as well as multiple nieces and nephews. His sister, Edith Shubert (David), preceded him in death.
A gravesite celebration of life is being planned for this summer.
