Garrett W. LeMay, 58, of Gunnison, Colorado, passed away on June 28, 2026, and was reunited with his beloved parents.

Garrett was born on May 20, 1968, in Gunnison, to Larry and Sondra LeMay. He graduated from Gunnison High School in 1986.

A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Garrett served from 1986 to 1991, attaining the rank of Lance Corporal. During his service, he participated in Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. His other awards include: Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy “E” Ribbon, Naval Reserve Meritorious Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon. Garrett earned the Rifle Expert Badge - 5th Award, and the Pistol Expert Badge - 4th Award.

After his military service, Garrett spent much of his career as a heavy equipment operator, working from 1991 to 2025. He took great pride in his work and was deeply loyal to the coworkers he considered his “work family.”

He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, skiing, and tending his vegetable garden. One of his favorite accomplishments was winning the “Need for Speed” ski race in Glenwood.  Another of his favorite hobbies included his love of reloading ammunition with his dad and brother, and his grandson got in on the action recently by sorting casings with him. Garrett was also a dedicated community member, serving on The Glenn HOA Board.

Those who knew Garrett will remember his unwavering patriotism, his strong work ethic, his love of the outdoors, and, above all, his devotion to his family. He was a proud husband, father, and grandfather who cherished every moment spent with those he loved.

Garrett was preceded in death by his father, Larry LeMay; his mother, Sondra LeMay, whom was affectionately called “that amazing lady”; and his sister-in-law, Lex Carter.

He is survived by his sister, Jeri, his brother, Travis, his beloved wife, Christina; his daughter, Crystal; his son, Matt; and his treasured grandchildren, Lucy, Phoenix, and Avery, along with many extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.
