Chastity Renee Miller, 51, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2025 at HopeWest in Grand Junction, Colorado, surrounded by family.

She was born in Grand Junction on April 2, 1974 and raised in Hotchkiss, Colorado by her devoted parents Leonard and Teresa Valdez. She graduated from Hotchkiss High School in 1992.

She attended Mesa State College shortly after graduating and then returned home to Hotchkiss where she met her future husband. They married July 30, 1994 and started raising their family in Crawford, Colorado.

In 2005, Chastity and her family moved to Gunnison, where a few years later she would start what became her favorite job. She worked as a billing assistant at Gunnison County Electric Association, a role she truly loved. Chas brought kindness, humor and heart to the workplace every single day.

Chastity was the proud wife of Matthew Miller (51) and the devoted mother of two children, Laci (31) and Dylan (29). They were her entire world. She supported Matt through his work and stood by her children through every hardship and every triumph. Whether it was showing up to every appointment during Dylan’s cancer treatments or cheering Laci on through flight attendant training, Chas never let anyone face life alone.

She carried a warmth and light that drew people in wherever she went. She was the kind of person who made you feel like family after just one conversation. Her smile was contagious, her hugs were healing and her heart had room for everyone. Her home was filled with warmth, laughter and the smell of something comforting on the stove. She never forgot a birthday and always found time for thoughtful notes and little acts of kindness.

Chastity loved being outside. Some of her happiest days were spent camping and side-by-siding with family and friends. She also loved hosting game nights where laughter echoed through the house and everyone felt like they belonged. During the holidays she made sure no one ever felt alone. Her door and her heart were always open.

She leaves behind her husband Matthew, her children Laci and Dylan, her mom Teresa Valdez, her brother Leandro Valdez, extended family and countless friends who became family along the way. She was preceded in death by her dad Leonard Valdez who surely welcomed her into heaven with open arms, along with the family's famous and beloved dog Mr. Jiggs.

To say she will be missed does not begin to capture the depth of this loss. Her presence filled every room with love and her absence is deeply felt. But her legacy lives on in how we love each other, how we treat others with kindness, and how we keep moving forward with strength.

A celebration of life and funeral services will be held later this summer. More details will be shared soon. Please consider donating to Gunnison Tough or, in lieu of flowers, donate to St. Mary's Hospital and/or HopeWest located in Grand Junction, or contact Laci Miller.
