Ann Macpherson Zucca, age 88, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026 in Vail surrounded by her loving family.

Born in July 1937 in Port Washington, New York, Ann lived a life defined by kindness, warmth, and love for both people and nature. After attending Vermont Junior College, she headed west to San Francisco, where she met her husband, Bob Zucca. She worked as a teacher’s aide for more than 20 years and was deeply committed not only to her own children’s education, but also to the many students whose lives she impacted throughout her career.

Ann’s sweet spirit touched everyone who knew her. She found great joy in the outdoors and especially loved hiking, gardening, skiing, and simply taking in the beauty of the natural world. Whether tending her garden or spending time outdoors with family and friends, she treasured life’s quiet moments and the beauty surrounding her. She was also well known among family and friends for her homemade blackberry pies, jam and syrup. These special treats regularly found their way onto the family table and into gift baskets shared throughout the year, becoming one more expression of the love and generosity she so naturally gave to others.

Her family will always remember the love and care she poured into everyday life. Growing up, Saturday mornings meant bacon and eggs, while Sundays were reserved for pancakes and sausage around the family table. Most afternoons, Ann was there helping with homework and she spent countless hours driving to and from 4-H meetings and sports practices, always encouraging and supportive, wearing a warm smile. These simple acts of devotion created a lifetime of cherished memories for her children and grandchildren.

Above all, Ann was dedicated to her family, who were the center of her life. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Bob Zucca; her son, Bobby Zucca and wife Sonya; her daughter, Susie Vickerman and husband Ted; and her four grandchildren, Hayley Reese (Dan Reese), Maddy Zucca, Luke Vickerman and Jake Vickerman.

Ann will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her. Her memory lives on in the hearts of her family and friends. The family looks forward to celebrating Ann’s life at a future gathering.
