Business Spotlight: I Bar Ranch celebrates a summer of music, community and big crowds

Posted

What a summer season it’s been at I Bar Ranch! Big-name acts, packed crowds and community support made for a memorable run of live music in the Gunnison Valley.

Michael Franti & Spearhead drew more than 840 people May 30, making it the ranch’s third-largest show to date by just a few attendees. Then Corb Lund put on an unforgettable Fourth of July weekend show, bringing in more than 600 fans and making it the summer’s largest country show.

MarchFourth delivered the season’s most eclectic performances, with 13 musicians, stilt walkers and a kaleidoscope of musical and visual energy. Little Feat closed out the biggest crowd of the summer, with nearly 1,400 people attending — the second-largest show in I Bar Ranch history!

The season also featured local favorites Easy Jim, Mountain Jam, Harmonic Function and Floodgate Operators.

But I Bar isn’t just about providing the best summer concerts; it’s also about helping the community.

The ranch helped raise more than $2,000 for Gunnison Valley Mentors through the Legs Kegs & Eggs 5K, $2,000 for the CB Snow Sports Foundation through parking proceeds from the Michael Franti concert and $3,300 for the Gunnison/Crested Butte PTA through parking proceeds from the Little Feat concert.

The Oct. 2 Goonies concert is also expected to generate more than $4,500 for Western Colorado University track, field and cross-country programs.

September was also a big month for weddings! Set on 10 acres near Tomichi Creek, I Bar Ranch is the perfect place to say “I do.” Email wick@ibarranch.com for inquiries.

Wickenhauser thanked the ranch’s sponsors and crew, including Katie Lewinger (celebrating 10 years with I Bar Ranch), Darren McLean and Alex Sturde.

Can’t wait for next summer — pray for snow!
