Winter gear swap set for early November

The Crested Butte Snowsports Foundation (CBSF) is proud to announce that its annual Winter Gear Swap will be held on Friday, Nov. 6, and Saturday, Nov. 7, at the Lodge at Mountaineer Square in Mt. Crested Butte.

The Winter Gear Swap will take place on Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. Donations to support our winter scholarships and programming are welcomed.

“We’ve already received so much great gear on consignment from Gunnison and CB drop-offs, this year is promising to be an awesome swap,” said CBSF Executive Director Katie Lewinger. “Local retailers like Romp Skis and Christy Sports will be participating with lightly used demo gear for sale and new stuff too! We welcome all winter gear and equipment: from alpine and Nordic skis, snowboards, snowshoes, AT gear and splitboards to helmets, goggles, gloves and jackets.

“If it helps people slide or glide, we’ll help you sell it. We’ve partnered with the Town of Mt. Crested Butte and with Vail Resorts’ Epic Promise to make this year’s swap bigger and better,” added Lewinger.

According to CBSF Board President David McElyea, “The CBSF board and staff operate this annual event to support our scholarships and other programs, so that every young person in the Gunnison Valley can have the opportunity to experience the positive impacts of snowsports. We look forward to giving back to the kids each year, so plan to sell, buy, or stop in and make a donation.”

Gear drop-off locations and times: Sunday, Nov. 1, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Zuni West Brewing in CB South; Friday, Nov. 6, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Lodge at Mountaineer Square in Mt. CB. Gear will not be accepted outside of these times, nor during the swap. Gear Swap hours: Friday, Nov. 6, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 7, from 9 a.m. to noon.

Admission: Friday: Suggested donation $25. Saturday: Free to the public. Donations are always appreciated. Location: Enter through the main doors at the Lodge at Mountaineer Square, near the Coffee Lab. Any unsold gear must be picked up before 2 p.m. on Saturday. Remaining gear will be considered donated.
