Larry Stewart has joined Gunnison Savings & Loan as chief retail officer. Stewart, his wife, Mary, and their two children moved from Silt to Gunnison in May. Prior to joining the bank, Stewart worked at Alpine Bank as an executive vice president in Rifle. Stewart recently graduated from the Southwest Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.
Originally from Indiana, Stewart enjoys playing basketball, golf and bowling. His family has been enjoying the hiking and walking trails since moving to the area.
Stewart brings a wealth of banking knowledge, leadership and community involvement to the Gunnison Savings & Loan team. He will celebrate 25 years in banking later this year. Additionally, Stewart previously served on multiple boards, including the Journey Home Animal Care Center, Rifle Housing Authority, Colorado River Valley Chamber of Commerce, Rifle Regional Economic Development Corporation and Rifle’s Downtown Development Authority. He looks forward to serving on boards in the Gunnison Valley.
In this role at Gunnison Savings & Loan, Stewart will help carry on the bank's legacy while supporting its growth. As chief retail officer, he will oversee the lending department and front-line team. Gunnison Savings & Loan celebrated 115 years of serving the community by helping many residents of Gunnison, Crested Butte, Lake City and the surrounding areas purchase homes and operate local businesses.
