Over the past week, QR codes have been popping up at various restaurants in town.
Restaurant Week, organized by the Gunnison Chamber of Commerce, is a low-lift sweepstakes designed to bring new and returning customers into local chamber-member businesses. The week-long event doesn’t require special menus or extra work for businesses. It simply encourages patrons to go out to eat and support local restaurants, cafes, and more during the slow season.
“We tried to come up with something that would encourage people to circulate through our food places in town without it being a huge lift for the businesses,” said Leora Wallace. Executive Director of the Chamber of Commerce. “Our hope is that this will get people into the door during this slow time in the valley.”
When going out to eat, scan the QR code located at the front of the establishment to enter the sweepstakes for the chance to win some epic prizes. Scanning the code will lead to a digital passport, a free, website-based tool to track visits at participating restaurants. The same business can’t be tracked multiple times; the idea is to visit different locations across town.
The sweepstakes prizes are not to be overlooked. Prizes include custom Romp skis, three two-packs of Monarch Mountain lift tickets, and a $50 gift certificate to Gene Taylor’s Sporting Goods. The promotion runs until Sunday, Oct. 25, so don’t miss out!
Participating businesses include 1880 Tapas & Spirits, Blackstock Bistro, Buckle Family Wine, Cake Me Away, Garlic Mike’s, High Alpine Brewing Company, Jermaine’s, Luna Bakery, Mario’s Pizza and Pasta, Palisades, Sky Thai Pho and Sushi, The Coffee Trader, The Dive, The Powerstop, Sage Grouse Lounge, Tributary Coffee Roasters, and W Cafe.
