Western nursing department plans open house

Posted

Western Colorado University’s nursing department will host a public open house for its new Nursing Simulation Center from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 7, in Room 202 of Paul Wright Gym on the Western campus.

The event is open to everyone, including prospective students, community members and regional health care partners, and offers an opportunity to explore the university’s investment in expanding nursing education in the Gunnison Valley.

Attendees will be able to tour the nursing department facilities and Simulation Center, view high-fidelity simulation mannequins and meet nursing faculty and staff. The open house will also provide information about Western’s newly launched Bachelor of Science in Nursing program, including admissions requirements, program structure and available pathways.

Western’s BSN program includes both a traditional four-year track and an accelerated 12-month option for students who already hold a bachelor’s degree. The program is designed to prepare practice-ready nurses equipped to serve rural and mountain communities, with an emphasis on simulation-based education, strong clinical partnerships and community-centered care.

The launch of the program reflects Western’s commitment to addressing regional health care workforce needs and expanding access to high-quality nursing education in western Colorado.

Community members are encouraged to attend and learn more about the future of nursing education at Western.
