‘Rocky Horror Picture Show’ auditions set for Sept. 28

The Firebird Theatre & Center for the Arts would like to take the Valley on another strange journey with its fourth annual shadow cast screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Auditions for the shadow cast will take place in person from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Crested Butte Center for the Arts’ Schaul Dance Studio on Monday, Sept. 28. Actors should bring their current availability and conflicts for October, as well as some working knowledge of The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) and the traditions surrounding shadow cast screenings of the film. They should also be prepared to shadow act (lip sync and mimic character movements) for around 30 seconds of a song from the film and perform the basic choreography of the “Time Warp.” On-site reference via video or audio will be provided for actors upon request.

Only actors 18 and older at the time of the audition will be considered for this production. No experience is necessary, but actors must be comfortable with semi-nudity and strong language. Performers of all gender identities are encouraged to audition, and all roles are open for unconventional casting. Preference may be given to those with prior shadow cast experience. The performance will take place at the Center on Friday, Oct. 23. Rehearsals will begin shortly after auditions. For additional audition information, visit firebirdcb.com/rhps/.
