Prop. NN

Posted

Dear Editor:

Colorado students deserve public schools with enough qualified educators, manageable class sizes, and opportunities that prepare them for college, careers, and life without raising taxes or changing anyone’s tax bracket.

That is why the Gunnison County Education Association members are supporting Proposition NN.

Prop NN would allow Colorado to invest more of the revenue it already collects in K–12 public education, without raising taxes or changing anyone’s tax bracket. The funding could help our district:

  • Improve wages so teachers and education support professionals can afford to stay in their jobs
  • Reduce class sizes and improve student support
  • Expand career and technical education opportunities
  • Stabilize staffing so students have the qualified, caring adults they rely on every day

Prop NN also requires an independent public audit each year so Coloradans can see how the new funding is spent.

Here in Gunnison Watershed School District, Prop NN could provide an estimated $8,910,720 over the next 10 years. That could be equivalent to 12 new teaching positions and 12 more education support professionals hired.

As educators, we see the effects of underfunding every day. Prop NN is an important step toward giving us the resources we need to support our students and help them succeed.

Please join us in voting yes on Prop NN.

Sincerely,

The Gunnison County Education Association

Thanks,

Lisa Danos
