Prop 137 is for conservation

If you haven’t yet voted for Colorado Prop 137, let me encourage you to put your mark on its “Yes” box. Prop 137 will fund open space conservation, wildfire risk reduction, clean water protection and so much more. This will all be accomplished without a tax increase, with the funds coming from an existing tax on sporting goods and recreational equipment.

Here in Gunnison County, we all benefit from moneys coming from Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO). A portion of Prop 137 funds will support GOCO into the future. Open space funding has helped conserve thousands of acres of land and ranchland through the Crested Butte Land Trust and Gunnison Ranchland Conservation Legacy, among others. Keeping, and augmenting, this funding source will assure dependable funding for important conservation projects. 

What better way to link our recreation economy to the lands that support it?
