Older adults mental health first aid

Tri-County Health Network has a training session planned on mental health first aid for older adults.

The event will be at the Gunnison Public Library’s Community Room B from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 12.

Attendees will learn about unique challenges to mental health that the older adults in our lives face and practice a five-step action plan for offering support to those we are concerned about.

Farewell to the Youmans

After a lifetime of living in Gunnison and Powderhorn, the Youmans family will be moving to Missouri. Please join us at the Gunnison County Fairgrounds on Dec. 13 from 1:30 to 4 p.m. to spend time catching up and saying farewell.

Blue Christmas

The holiday season brings joy and fun, but it can also bring grief and loss. Many of us experienced personal loss this year, whether from the death of a loved one, a heavy medical diagnosis, or being let go from a job. All of this can be a lot to bear on a human soul. Having a safe place to gather together in our grief is one way to experience healing. Please consider attending our Community Blue Christmas gathering on Thursday, Dec 18, at 6 p.m. at UCC, 403 Maroon Ave., in Crested Butte. Everyone is welcome, non-religious folks and religious folks, Gunnison and Crested Butte, young and old and in between.  Questions? Contact Kelly Jo Clark 970-209-1613.

Community polka night

Come on down to the Crested Butte Museum for a night of community polka tradition with Pete Dunda. Make sure to bring your dancing shoes. The museum will have beverages available for purchase. This event is free, but donations are welcome. This event will be held Friday, Dec. 19, from 5 to 7 p.m.
