Business Spotlight: Lauren Cooper, LPC brings personalized mental health care to Gunnison

Posted

Lauren Cooper Counseling is expanding mental health support in the Gunnison Valley with a new private practice focused on collaborative, evidence-based care for teens and adults.

Cooper, a licensed professional counselor, has worked in community mental health in Gunnison and Crested Butte since 2015. After a decade serving clients in agency settings, she opened her private practice in October 2025, offering individual counseling for people aged 15 and older.

“I am dedicated to providing quality care to individuals seeking support for their mental health,” Cooper said.

She said her approach draws on more than 10 years of experience and emphasizes collaboration, holistic care and proven therapeutic methods tailored to each client. Sessions are designed to help individuals better understand their emotions, build practical coping skills and develop healthier responses to stress and life’s challenges.

“I am passionate about providing collaborative, holistic and evidenced-based therapeutic modalities to best serve each individual,” she said.

Cooper provides therapy for a range of concerns, including trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, chronic stress, life transitions, bipolar disorder, borderline personality disorder and co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders. She uses evidence-based approaches, including dialectical behavior therapy and acceptance and commitment therapy, to support lasting growth.

She will also be accepting clients for EMDR, a trauma processing therapy, when she completes her training later this spring.

Services are available in person at her Gunnison office and through teletherapy for clients across the Western Slope. The practice accepts self-pay, CB State of Mind vouchers and several private insurance plans that offer behavioral health coverage.
