Ink River Design makes its mark in Gunnison

OffCenter Designs has gotten a facelift

The Gunnison county staple OffCenter Designs has officially rebranded to Ink River Design. Kylie Collins and her husband Matt Galvez purchased the business from the Dickeys in October, and after a few months getting their feet wet in the new endeavor, they’re ready to proceed as Ink River Designs.

The couple has lived in the community for a decade, working various jobs around the valley, but are relatively new to the screen printing and design world.

The decision to rebrand came after months of consideration and helped signal a fresh start for the business.

They spent the first chunk of time learning, as it was important for them to maintain quality and local trust in the process. Collins and Galvez know that the heart of the business is the staff and credit all their successes thus far to the help of their employees who stayed with them after the sale of the business.

“They’re amazing and really good at what they do,” said Collins. “They’re absolutely wonderful.”

Employees include familiar faces such as Tyler Lukondi, who works with signs, Jonny Wilkinson, who specializes in embroidery and Evan Allison and Geoff McDougal who specialize in screen printing.

Ink River Designs in staying true to what OffCenter was for the community. They provide screen printing, embroidery, signs, with installment, and custom promotional products.

Collins notes that she’s been tackling most of the customer-facing jobs while Galvez has been working on sign installations and tackling printing and embroidery.

Though it’s hard for community members to see things change, especially businesses that have been around as long as OffCenter, Collins said that the community has welcomed them with open arms, and business has stayed consistent during the transition.

As spring rolls around and community members begin gearing up for graduations and local events, Collins projects that business will ramp up even higher.

“I feel like we’re getting the hang of things,” said Collins.

Per typical Gunnison fashion, the emphasis is on the community and the people who are the heart and soul of it.

“We’re really excited to keep working with locals. Our unofficial slogan here is “because everyone should know your business.” We are powered by Gunnison locals and we’re excited to keep helping them out and working with them,” said Collins, chuckling at the nature of the valley and what makes it so special.

“Now, being able to own a business in Gunnison and be connected to the community in this way is really special. We’re just really excited to be even more embedded in Gunnison moving forward.”
