Gunnison County is exploring a potential half-penny sales tax increase that would create a dedicated source of funding for its roads and bridge maintenance program, which currently has a $38 million backlog in deferred projects. Importantly, the proposed tax would exclude groceries and utilities.
The public is invited to an information session open house on Wednesday, Feb. 18 at the County Courthouse (Board of County Commissioners Board Room, second floor) to learn more about the proposal. There will be two drop-in times available – either 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Public feedback is important and encouraged; all are welcome to attend. To learn more and provide feedback, the public can go to inputcentral.com/gunnison-county-roads-initiative.
