Thirty-seven student musicians from Chile’s Colegio Bicentenario Domingo Santa María, joined by their directors, will make Gunnison their home from Oct. 10–18 for a weeklong residency hosted by Western Colorado University. The students will stay with fifteen local host families and perform across the Gunnison Valley throughout the week.
The following performances are open to the public:
Monday, Oct. 12, 6:30 p.m. — WCU Welcome Ceremony, Kincaid Concert Hall
Tuesday, Oct. 13, 6:30 p.m. — Chamber Music Concert, St. Peter’s Catholic Church
Wednesday, Oct. 14, 5:30 p.m. — Chamber Music Concert, Good Samaritan Episcopal Church
Thursday, Oct. 15, 6 p.m. — “Chats in the Kitchen” shared meal with Community, Gunnison Congregational Church, 317 N. Main St. (Info: Juntos por Gunnison, together@juntosporgunnison.org)
Friday, Oct. 16, 6:30 p.m. — Symphonic Concert with WCU String Orchestra and Concert Band, Kincaid Concert Hall
Saturday, Oct. 17 — National Anthem performance before the 6:00 p.m. Mountaineer football home game vs. Fort Lewis, Mountaineer Bowl
The residency also includes educational outreach performances for students at Gunnison High School and Gunnison Community School, and a concert for residents of the Gunnison Senior Care Center.
