CBAC announces youth auditions for 'Bodhi and the Rainforest'

Posted

The Crested Butte Center for the Arts and local artist Suzanne Pierson will hold auditions for this summer’s youth musical production of "Bodhi and the Rainforest." Written and created by Pierson, the show is produced in partnership with the Center and will run Aug. 20-22.

The production seeks up to 40 elementary and middle school children to create a vibrant forest and tell the story of a simple caterpillar morphing into Bodhi the Butterfly, who ultimately saves the rainforest.

Pierson has assembled a production team of volunteers with both professional and extensive community theater experience to launch this production and guide children in this main-stage theatrical experience. Aside from experiencing the joy of bringing this story to life, children will engage with the team and their peers to create a live performance.

Auditions will be held June 26-29 in Gunnison and Crested Butte. No experience is necessary, and children do not need to prepare anything. Pierson and co-director Mary Tuck will guide participants through the audition process. Pierson welcomes all children who wish to play, sing, dance and participate.

The audition schedule is as follows:

  • Gunnison: June 26 from 3 to 5 p.m. and June 27 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Gunnison Library.
  • Crested Butte: June 28 and 29 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Center for the Arts, King Room.

For questions, text Pierson at 303-818-1890 with "Bodhi Audition" at the start of the message. Those interested in supporting the production with sets, costumes, props, makeup or general assistance can reach out to Pierson with "Bodhi volunteer" in the text.
