Editor:
Why does it seem every city or county project requires the use of front range consultants? For highly technical projects like a sewer expansion or water treatment plant construction non-local expertise is understandable.
All these uses of consultants (and many have been detailed in the Times in recent weeks) makes one wonder why we have managers and technicians on the city and county payroll while scarce tax dollars are sent out of the valley.
Are consultants needed about the downtown business problem? When there are more storefronts than parking spots, and one of the higher sales tax rates in the state it seems to me the problem is obvious. Yet there is talk about additional sales taxes to finish off downtown.
