Where were the writers when previous president was ‘missing at the helm?’

I am writing in response to Jim Starr’s Jan. 8 letter to the Gunnison Country Times.

Looking through the rash of previous letters from members of this community in this paper concerning President Trump, I have a question: Where were all of you when the previous president was obviously missing at the helm of this nation, and God only knew who or what was actually running the executive branch of our government?

As to those “freedoms” he insinuates losing under Trump, where was he when Nina Jankowicz was named the new director of Biden’s disinformation governance board of the United States?

Where was this community’s outrage when big tech was secretly censoring social media that didn’t parrot the Biden administration’s narratives?

To his claim that Jan. 6 was an “almost successful coup,” I have five words for him: flagpoles versus heavily armed military. I wonder who would dominate? With the previous stonewalling administration gone from power, the new one is now in the process of uncovering all the shenanigans, abnormalities and outright fraud that appeared to manifest itself before and during the election of 2020. Did Trump have a point? Shockingly, perhaps he did. More investigation will hopefully clear it up in the future one way or another. I, for one, want fair and honest elections along with voter identification.

When Mr. Starr stated that the Jan. 6 police are “brave law enforcement defenders of our democracy and the rule of law,” I trust he was also thinking about the over 900 police officers injured during Seattle mayor Jenny Durkan’s (D) minted 2020 “Summer of Love,” also known as the BLM/George Floyd riots, along with the over two dozen civilians murdered. I guess it all boils down to which “democracy”’ and “rule of law” one is concerned about in this country.

Another “rule of law” is for the actual citizens of this nation not to have swarms of people who broke our immigration laws and entered the country illegally transplanted with our tax dollars by the previous administration’s actions.

Changing the subject, in respect: Rest in peace, Ben Nighthorse Campbell. Off to that big ranch in the sky. Where the pasture grass is always green and the horses are happy and free.
