Trump account update

The Republican Party of Gunnison County is proud to announce that on the USA’s 250th anniversary, July 4, 2026, you can enroll your child into a Trump Account.

Children who are born between Jan. 1, 2025, and Dec. 31, 2028, are eligible to receive $1,000 into your account from the federal government. Simply file Form 4547 with the IRS, or go to https://form.trumpaccounts.gov/ to start the process online.

Upon submission, the information you provide will be transmitted to the IRS and used to prepare and file Form 4547 to establish a Trump Account for the identified child(ren). You'll be contacted by a trustee with whom your Trump Account will be established, with further instructions on how to complete account setup.

If your child was born before Jan. 1, 2025, and is 10 years old or under, you can still benefit from the Trump Account. Michael Dell and his wife, Susan, have committed $6.25 billion for children born before this date to open a Trump Account. Each child will receive $250 if living in a ZIP code in which the median income is less than $150,000. All Gunnison County ZIP codes qualify. The procedure to receive it will be announced before July 4.

In addition, over 50 companies have committed to contributing to their employee’s child’s Trump Account. To find out if you work for one check out https://atr.org/trumpaccounts/. 

Any company can contribute up to $2,500 to Trump Accounts on behalf of their employees' children. All contributions are tax-deductible. Parents, relatives, or the child can contribute working wages, up to $5,000 per year.

Each $1,000 in 18 years can grow to $18,000, given historical average gains of the S&P 500.

As children mature, they will learn about investing and watch their money compound in real time. They will gain more than just money; they'll gain financial literacy.
