Editor:
The Gunnison County Health Coalition, in Partnership with the Gunnison Country Food Pantry, recently sought funding through a Giving Connection fundraising campaign with Community Foundation of the Gunnison Valley to reprint and distribute a set of multilingual “Welcome” yard signs that promote inclusion and a sense of belonging in Gunnison County. These signs are displayed by local organizations and businesses year-round as a public statement of support for all community members, recognizing that there are more than 30 languages spoken in our Valley. We are home to people from diverse backgrounds, and we wanted to take the time to celebrate and recognize this.
We were able to print off 100 new signs, thanks to some generous donors and our local Off Center DeSIGNS that helped with the printing. We encourage you to pick up a free sign if you donated to this fundraiser, or even if you did not donate but would like to show your support and claim a free sign, please feel free to claim one before they run out! We hope that these signs can visibly promote the values of welcoming and unity in our community.
If you would like to see your heritage and language represented and do not currently see it listed on here, please feel free to email Reiley Jones, Gunnison County Health Coalition Coordinator: Rjones@gunnisoncounty.org. We will make sure to include an update in our next printing of the Welcome Signs. Always remember to be there for each other, and that we are Better Together.
If you would like to pick up a free multilingual welcome yard sign, then please visit one of the pick-up locations in Gunnison:
