What a summer it has been so far. Looking back over the last few months, Six Points wishes to express sincere gratitude to the community for so many things.
First and foremost, for the generous financial donations received from local individuals, organizations, and businesses. There are simply too many to name, and the appreciation goes deep. We are also grateful for the donations of gently used clothing, household goods, furniture and sporting goods which we are able to sell in the Thrift Store, and keep out of the landfill. Sales from the Six Points Thrift Store support the programs and services provided for our clients, including art and music programs, daily living assistance, job support, transportation, entrepreneurial endeavors, recreational, athletic pursuits like softball and Special Olympics, and more.
Earlier this summer, we held our annual, “Picnic on the Patio” with the help of a City of Gunnison Resiliency Project grant, along wit
h contributions from Natural Grocers, City Market, Walmart, The Homestead Hut, and Burnells Food Truck. Evelyn Roper provided beautiful music and sang songs with Six Points clients. Kim and Quinn Pickett provided shaved ice and glitter tattoos to the delight of many. The turnout was greater than ever before and fun was had by all.
Six Points clients have been involved in many activities with the wonderful folks at the Adaptive Sports Center. Clients participated in Special Olympics Track and Field, Swimming, and Cycling events, joyfully bringing home many medals. Jeffrey Crawley proudly competed at the Special Olympics USA Games in Minneapolis with Team Colorado. Congratulations to all the participants.
Sincere thanks to this wonderful community which continues to support this organization and the people who benefit from these services.
