Three candidates have been selected as finalists for the Gunnison Watershed School District’s next superintendent.

The finalists are Dr. Jessica Kalb of Montrose, Dr. Chad Krug of Lamar and

William Summers of Penrose.

Kalb is the executive director of academic services at the Montrose County School District.

Krug is the superintendent at Lamar Public School.

Summers is the principal at Canon City High School.

There will be an opportunity for interested parties to meet the final candidates and submit input to the board about each candidate during one of two meet-and-greets. Those events are planned for Monday, Feb. 9.

The first one will be held at Crested Butte Community School at 818 Red Lady Ave. from 4 to 5:15 p.m.

The second will be held at Gunnison Pathways Center, 600 N. Eighth St., from 6 to 7:15 p.m.

The board intends to make their final selection following the interviews on Tuesday, Feb. 10.

The finalists were announced Monday in a press release issued by the search firm the district is using, McPherson & Jacobson, LLC. They reviewed, screened and did background checks on 16 applicants, then presented the applicants to the school board. From there, the board narrowed the field to three.

After the superintendent has been hired, Dr. Christy Sinner will facilitate a board/superintendent workshop to help establish performance standards for the new superintendent.
