Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation's local chapter to host 36th Annual Banquet this Saturday

Posted

The local chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation (RMEF) is hosting its 36th annual banquet, starting at 5 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 8, at the Fred Field Heritage Center in Gunnison.

A prime rib dinner will be catered by Ol’ Miner. A silent auction, raffles and a live auction will showcase various art and unique items from both local talent and national sponsors.

All proceeds go to supporting conservation efforts for hunters, hikers, bird watchers and anyone who enjoys the amazing recreation opportunities offered here locally.

Local wildfires are destroying the elk and wildlife habitat. Blackened winter ranges, burned out water sources and their migration routes have been scrambled.

Early this year, RMEF committed $3 million dollars to wildfire recovery in the western states. When the fire crews leave, RMEF is committed to staying to seed the burned ranges, to prevent invasive weeds from dominating and to preserve the native landscape, with new hope for recovery.

RMEF is committed to Colorado recovery from our devastating local fires.
