High Country Conservation Advocates (HCCA) invites the community to join the Town Ranch Wetland Restoration Project in partnership with the Town of Crested Butte on Saturday, Aug. 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Volunteers will help restore critical wetlands along the Slate River by reweaving willows, reinforcing existing attenuation structures with sod, and removing sections of fencing to reduce habitat fragmentation and improve wildlife movement.
Wetlands are essential to the health of the Gunnison Country, helping store snowmelt, sustain streamflows, reduce erosion, improve water quality, and provide critical wildlife habitat. This workday is a great opportunity to make a hands-on contribution to build a healthier, more resilient watershed.
Visit hccacb.org to learn more and register. Volunteers will meet at 8:30 a.m. at the Tommy V Baseball Field, 910 Ninth St. in Crested Butte, behind the Crested Butte Community School. Please wear weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear and bring everything you’ll need for a full day outside.
All necessary tools and equipment will be provided, and lunch will be provided by our generous sponsor, Crested Butte Deli.
We look forward to having you join us in the field.
