GVH welcomes new oncologist, Dr. Karen LoRusso

Gunnison Valley Health this week welcomed Karen LoRusso, MD, to its medical staff as a hematologist and oncologist, further strengthening access to high-quality cancer and blood disorder care for our community, GVH said in a press release.

Dr. LoRusso earned her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and completed her internal medicine internship and residency at the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque. She went on to complete fellowship training in hematology and oncology at the University of Virginia Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia. She is board certified in both hematology and oncology. 

With 20 years of experience in private practice in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Dr. LoRusso brings deep clinical expertise and a patient-centered approach to the diagnosis and treatment of hematologic conditions and cancer, the release states. Her career reflects a long-standing commitment to building trusted relationships with patients and delivering thoughtful, evidence-based care close to home.

When not in clinic, Dr. LoRusso enjoys hiking with her husband, Alex, and spending time outdoors with their three dogs.
