Gunnison qualifies several athletes for state meet

Gunnison High School will be well represented at this week’s state track and field meet in Lakewood. GHS has qualified a number of athletes, including two relay teams.

Here are the state meet qualifiers from Gunnison:

Ian Baker qualified in the 800-meter run with a time of 1 minute, 58.97 seconds. His time is the ninth-fastest coming into the state meet.

Baker also qualified in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 4:31.21, the 10th-fastest time heading into the state meet. He is a sophomore.

Autumn Terry qualified in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.90, the 17th-fastest time coming into the meet.

Terry also qualified in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.10, the ninth-best time. She is a freshman.

Jordan Callahan qualified in the 3,200-meter run. She had a time of 11:47.68. Callah is a freshman. 

In the 100 hurdles, Caroline Sudderth qualified. She had a time of 16.56, the 11th-best time. She is a senior.

Sudderth also qualified in the 300 hurdles with a time of 49.97.

The girls 4x100 relay team finished in 51.39 to earn a spot in the state meet.

The girls 4x800 relay team also earned a spot, finishing with the eight-best time coming into the meet, 10:15.65.

In the triple jump, Gunnison senior Aubrey Welfelt qualified with a distance of 33 feet, 7.5 inches.
