GHS travels to Grand Junction for Wertman invite

The Gunnison High School track and field team competed at the Phil Wertman Invitational in Grand Junction on Friday, April 10.

Bing O’Rourke placed 62nd in the boys 100-meter dash with a time of 13.50 seconds and Esteban Alvarez placed 68th with a time of 16.21 seconds.

Zedeekhiel Flores placed 58th in the boys 200-meter dash with a time of 27.09 seconds.

Sam Sawyer placed 12th in the boys 400-meter dash with a time of 53.72 seconds, Roman Loken placed 27th with a time of 59.10 seconds and Jack Siegrist placed 43rd with a time of 1:15.50.

Nicholas Monitello placed 27th in the boys 800-meter run with a time of 2:22.30, Angel Ballester placed 37th with a time of 2:26.76, Adrian Hanacek placed 60th with a time of 2:55.83 and Siegrist placed 61st with a time of 2:59.77.

Ian Baker placed third in the boys 1600-meter run with a time of 4:31.21, Jesus Chona placed 26th with a time of 5:03.91, Riego Koepsel placed 42nd with a time of 5:29.24 and Cruz Dominguez placed 52nd with a time of 5:46.44.

Cooper Mickelson placed 11th in the boys 110-meter hurdles with a time of 19.38 seconds

Mickelson placed 14th in the boys 300-meter hurdles with a time of 46.89 seconds.

The boys 4x200-meter relay team placed eighth with a time of 1:40.53.

The boys 4x800-meter relay “A” team placed eighth with a time of 9:12.28 and the “B” team placed 16th with a time of 10:48.62 seconds.

Cooper Boardman placed eighth in the boys high jump with a jump of five feet, five inches.

Mickelson placed 11th in the boys triple jump with a total distance of 36-2.5.

On the girls side, Autumn Terry placed third in the girls 100-meter dash with a time of 12.94 seconds, Vivian Clark placed 24th with a time of 14.14 seconds and Kayden McDonough placed 62nd with a time of 16.24 seconds.

Terry placed fourth in the girls 200-meter dash with a time of 26.36 seconds, Maya Petrie placed 26th with a time of 29.19 seconds and Emma Bogart placed 42nd with a time of 30.53 seconds.

Gianna Wickenhauser placed 11th in the girls 400-meter dash with a time of 1:05.93 and Brooke Span placed 22nd with a time of 1:09.30.

Caris Stoerkel placed 36th in the girls 800-meter run with a time of 3:04.37 seconds and Kinley Dziekan placed 47th with a time of 3:28.09.

Jordan Callahan placed eighth in the girls 1600-meter dash with a time of 5:30.31 seconds, Elora Jones placed 15th with a time of 5:45.31, Bristol Buffington placed 26th with a time of 6:20.02 and Avery Crean placed 33rd with a time of 6:37.52.

Haley Smith placed 17th in the girls 100-meter hurdles with a time of 20.77 seconds.

Clark placed 18th in the girls 300-meter hurdles with a time of 55.15 seconds.

The girls 4x100-meter relay team placed 10th with a time of 54.14 seconds.

The girls 4x200-meter relay team placed 17th with a time of 2:12.44

The girls 4x800-meter relay “A” team placed fifth with a time of 10:46.01 and the “B” team placed 10th with a time of 12:26.85.

Bogart placed 10th in the girls high jump with a jump of 4-9.

Terry placed second in the girls long jump with a distance of 16 feet, Aubrey Welfelt placed 10th with a distance of 14-7 and Lauran Cowan placed 25th with a distance of 11 feet.

The team will head to New Castle for the Coal Ridge Invitational this Friday, April 17 for their next action of the season.
