For the love of neighborhoods

It’s been a privilege to own a home on Spruce St, which I purchased for an affordable price in 1992.  Three lots with a good 12 inches of sandy loam alongside the babbling city ditch was heaven, a mecca for not only my kids, Melody and Travis, but for all their friends, dogs, cats and piano students who filled the house and yard daily.

On June 26th, I signed a Gunnison County Master Deed Restriction that my home will never be sold as a second home, but remain a primary residence.  The qualified owner can own a business and even work remotely, but cannot have an ownership interest in other residential property in or out of Gunnison County.

Today, I extend gratitude and thanks to Skyler Matthias, Gunnison County Housing Authority, Barb Carroll and Gunnison County for about 6 months of creating the document.  Also, to William Spicer for coming on board to help clarify small but important details that make the document shine.

For me, it’s a small but important reassembling for humanity and the Gunnison community.
