The Western Colorado University Art Department invites the public to the exhibition for seniors in the Bachelor of Fine Arts program, which will open with two events at the Quigley Gallery next week.
On Thursday, Dec. 11, the art school will host a convocation featuring an artist talk from 12:30 - 2 p.m. The official exhibition opening is set for the following evening, Dec. 12, from 5 to 7 p.m.
This semester’s exhibition will showcase Western undergraduate artists working in a variety of mediums.
Benjamin Cook, a BFA student in jewelry design, will exhibit his work titled “Rings of Power” which explores how rings make people feel powerful through a set of superheroes and villains themed rings.
Mary Donohue, a BFA student in graphic design, will exhibit her work titled “Rooted,” which investigates the connections between people and places around the Gunnison Valley. Mixed-media artist Sadie Holguín’s installation titled “Multidimensional” explores personal and cultural motifs through surrealist art.
Dane Whitefeather S., who is earning his degree in mechanical engineering, demonstrates technical precision in his body of work “Voices Between the Lines,” which blends geometric Navajo-inspired design with story driven elements.
The work will be on display from Dec. 11 to Dec. 14 in the Quigley Gallery.
