The holiday season brings joy and fun, but it can also bring grief and loss. Many of us experienced personal loss this year, whether from the death of a loved one, a heavy medical diagnosis or being let go from a job. But we have also had collective losses, such as tragic deaths of beloved community members, extreme upheaval in our political system causing distress and increased violence around the world.
All of this can be a lot to bear on a human soul. Having a safe place to gather together in our grief is one way to experience healing.
Please consider attending our Community Blue Christmas gathering on Thursday, Dec. 18, at 6 p.m. at UCC, 403 Maroon Ave. in Crested Butte. The event is co-sponsored by CB State of Mind with music by locals Karen Janssen and Kevin Donovan. Everyone is welcome, including non-religious folks and religious folks, Gunnison and Crested Butte, young and old and in between.
