Daily Community lab testing at hospital replaces GVH’s annual Gunnison event

Gunnison Valley Health has transformed community access to affordable laboratory testing by replacing its annual Gunnison community lab testing event with low-cost Direct Access Testing available every day through the GVH hospital laboratory.

For many years, community members relied on an annual community lab testing event to access affordable laboratory services. Today, GVH offers low-cost Direct Access Testing year-round, providing greater convenience, broader access, and faster results for residents throughout the Gunnison Valley.

Community members can access a variety of common laboratory tests without insurance and without waiting for a special event. Results are delivered directly through MyChart, giving patients faster access to their health information and eliminating the need to wait for results to arrive in the mail.

"The biggest advantage is convenience," said Erica Rasmussen, Director of Marketing & Communications for Gunnison Valley Health.

"For many years, community members relied on an annual lab testing event. Today, affordable community lab testing is available every day through GVH. Community members can access testing when it works for their schedule, no insurance is required, results are delivered directly to MyChart, and there's no waiting for results to arrive in the mail. We've taken a service that was once available through a limited annual event and made it available year-round."

GVH also wants community members to be aware that an out-of-town company has independently decided to host a community lab testing event in Gunnison this summer. GVH is not affiliated with that event.

"While residents may see information about another community lab testing event taking place in Gunnison, it's important for the community to understand that GVH is not involved in or associated with that event," Rasmussen said. "Affordable community lab testing is already available locally every day through our hospital laboratory."
