High Country Conservation Advocates (HCCA) invites all ages to join us, in partnership with Western Colorado University and the Trailhead Children’s Museum, for our second screening of the 21st Annual Backcountry Film Festival. Missed the first screening? The festival returns to the big screen on Thursday, Jan. 15, at the UC Theatre in Gunnison.
This special screening features a family-friendly art hour before the films, where attendees can create and take home a winter-themed souvenir. Come early to design your own custom sticker—perfect for a water bottle, skis, or helmet. Artists of all ages are encouraged to express their love for the backcountry, skiing and the outdoors. Stay to enjoy a curated lineup of short films celebrating the beauty and importance of our winter wildlands.
Produced by Winter Wildlands Alliance, the Backcountry Film Festival is a community-based program showcasing backcountry-inspired stories rooted in conservation. This year’s snowy, adventure-filled lineup is sure to inspire your winter pursuits.
By partnering with local organizations like HCCA, the festival helps raise critical funds that support our conservation work in the Gunnison Country. Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy incredible films, support a worthy cause and connect with fellow winter enthusiasts as we celebrate—and work to protect—the wild places we love.
The event is free for Western students and all choice-pass holders. Tickets at hccacb.org.
Doors open at 5 p.m., and the films begin at 6:30 p.m. We hope to see you there.
