The Gunnison High School (GHS) wrestling team competed at the 2020 Colorado High School Activities Association State Championships this past weekend. GHS won three matches, which is better in comparison to last season, when they won two matches. Jared Van Hee, Bryce Vincent, Zeb Alexander and Devin Gomez qualified for state this season, with Alexander and Gomez going the farthest for GHS. Alexander won his first match over Caden Measner by a 7-1 decision, before suffering a fall and decision lost in the quarterfinal and consolation round two match. Gomez had a little bit more success, winning his first match over Jermiah Martinez from La Junta by fall (3:25), before suffering his first loss in the quarterfinal match. Gomez responded in the consolation round two match, battling for a 6-5 decision victory, yet fell in the consolation round three match ending his state run.
