Mary Jane “Irish” Beals passed away at home in Boise, Idaho on the evening of Feb. 27, surrounded by her family. She was 94 years old. Mary Jane is lovingly remembered by her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia L. (Beals) and Stephen M. Evans of Boise, Idaho. She adored being “Gram” to Morgan M. Evans of Seattle, Wash., Andrew R. and his wife Jenessa Evans of Boise, and Zachary M. Evans and his partner Anja Crocker of Boise. She was predeceased by her parents and sister.

Mike Kunes passed away in the loving arms of his family at his daughter’s home in Colorado Springs, Colo. Mike was born Sept. 1, 1942 and passed away March 2.

Ralph Edward Kwiatkoski died Saturday, Feb. 15 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction after a short illness. Born Jan. 7, 1936, Ralph was 84. He was the youngest of the seven children of Anthony and Florence Kwiatkoski. Ralph loved growing up in Cheboygan, Mich., where he swam in Lake Huron and rode his bike delivering flowers from his father’s garden and the town’s newspapers.

Wolfgang Taylor, one of the great kickers in NCAA history, passed away Feb. 19. Wolfgang played at Western from 1971- 1975 and set the all time NCAA record (all Divisions) for points scored as a kicker. He broke the record on the last game of the season in 1975 against Colorado Mines. He kicked a 52 yard field goal late in the game. When Western got a 5-yard penalty, he kicked a 57-yarder to break the record. Rest in peace, Wolfgang.

Karen Louise McBreen departed this world on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 26. She was born Sept. 28, 1948 in the Bronx, the middle child of Ethel Jane Ach and John William Cherewatti. Karen spent her childhood in Long Island’s Massapequa Park eventually finding herself in the Big Apple studying nursing at Methodist Hospital where she earned her cap in 1968. Following graduation, she went onto Boston’s New England Deaconess Hospital followed by Johns Hopkins in Baltimore.

James Lee Coleman, 90, passed away Saturday morning in Gunnison. Memorial services will likely be held in May and a full obituary will be published prior to that date.
