In their first-ever faculty-led semester abroad, Western State Colorado University students are learning first-hand about the ski and resort industry — and the nuances of a different culture they might not fully appreciate while reading textbooks in the Gunnison Valley.

Western State Colorado University women's Nordic team took second in the 7.5-kilometer skate race at United States Collegiate Ski and Snowboard Association Nationals in Lake Placid, N.Y. this week.

As I walk into Gunnison High School (GHS), I’m instantly greeted by change. I graduated in 2010, back when the high school was still the same old 1950s structure, brick and big globe bulbs outside.
