Western Mountain Sports — The Western State Colorado University Nordic ski team left nationals last week after delivering a one-two punch.

It was a year many remember vividly for its dryness. In fact, the 2002 drought even made national headlines. Locally, Blue Mesa Reservoir was a mere puddle of mud that year.

Gunnison Watershed RE1J School District leaders have hired a new superintendent — and she hails from right here in the Gunnison Basin.

The RE1J School Board Monday night voted unanimously to approve a contract with Leslie Nichols, who rose to the top among three finalists.
