The work is done and the fun can begin. The newest singletrack bike trail was completed earlier this week by the Gunnison Trails crew, crossing another route off their to-do list of completing a larger trail network at Signal Peak.

Emily Anderson and Ryan Gwinn of Gunnison brought their son William Taylor Gwinn into the world on June 24 at 8:43 a.m. He weighed 6 lbs., 8.2 oz., and registered 18.5 inches in length. Welcoming him to the family are sibling Autumn Rose Ortiz and grandparents Karlie Ireland and TJ Ireland.

Stage 1 fire ban enacted

Amid dry and warm weather conditions across western Colorado, Gunnison County leaders have enacted Stage 1 fire restrictions for the county. The restriction will go in effect overnight on Friday morning, at 12:01 a.m. and continue until they can be rescinded by officials.

Finger picking good

This past weekend saw the return of the Sunday Pickers. The musicians gathered in front of the new location of Dobrato Resophonic Guitars. All skill levels took part in the musical fare. Listeners are encouraged to gather with social distancing. The group gathers to play typically on Sunday, beginning at 10 a.m.

Straight shooters

The Gunnison Sportsmen's Association has awarded $13,000 in scholarships since 2015, including five scholarships for 2020. Each scholarship is in the amount of $500. This years’ recipients are (l to r) Clay Sabrowski, Tristan Marie Haus, Sydnee Klug and Ellie Jackson. Not pictured, Ashleigh MacLennan. Each recipient was also treated to a round of trapshooting.
