It was a slow start to the game for the Crested Butte High School (CBHS) hockey team on Friday, as they took on the Summit Tigers on the road. The Tigers raced out to an early 2-0 lead, before CBHS scored their first goal of the game midway through the first period, thanks to Rowan Piccaro, who slipped the puck past the goalkeeper.

In the second period things got significantly better. Adam Collins, Jack Lambert, Grady Lipoma, and Matthew Trujillo each found the back of the net — Lambert finding it twice as they took a 6-2 lead. Summit responded early in the third period with a goal of their own, however it was their final goal of the game.

Brendan Hartigan and Lambert made sure to crush any hopes of a comeback, scoring the final three goals of the game for CBHS. Hartigan scored back to back goals, while Lambert recorded the hat trick late in the third period to keep their unbeaten record in tack.

The Titans were back on the ice Wednesday, traveling to Lewis Ice Arena to take on Aspen. As of press time results from that competition weren’t available. CBHS will be home once again on Friday and Saturday. They take on Glenwood Springs at Jorgensen Ice Rink at 5:45 p.m. Friday and noon Saturday.
