Zach Sowers, lifelong resident of Gunnison, Colo., died unexpectedly on Sunday, April 19 at the age of 19, in a vehicle accident.

Zach was a loving and devoted brother, son, uncle, nephew and friend. He had a heart of gold. He is survived by: his parents Sean Sowers (father) Donna Sowers (mother); sisters Ashley and Kaitee Sowers and so many other loved ones.

Zachary was born Feb. 16, 2001 and graduated from Gunnison High School in 2019. He had a passion for cars and was recently accepted into the Universal Technical Institute’s Auto Mechanic School in Arizona to begin this coming October. He was really excited to learn how to build a car from the ground up.

Due to current county restrictions, our family would like to invite the entire community to participate in a vehicle procession to help us celebrate the life of Zachary Sowers on Friday, April 24. The procession will begin at 11 a.m. at the Neversink picnic area and drive east through town, down Tomichi, to the Cemetery, where we will ask everyone to drive through the cemetery to pay their respects, but please remain in your vehicles. If you will not be driving in the procession, we would still invite you to come to Tomichi to view the procession and to show your support, while respecting social distances. There will be a designated spot that you may leave a note or written memory for the family.

We thank you all for your continuous love and support throughout this difficult time.
