Nobody wants to feel forced from a community they’ve come to love. Yet, such stories appear to be increasing in number amid a growing affordability gap in the Gunnison Valley.
Recently, Crested Butte councilman Jackson Petito’s decision to move to Crested Butte South amid escalating unaffordability made him ineligible to serve on Town Council.
But Petito’s anti-growth, antibusiness, protectionist rant in the form of a resignation letter last Monday — the text of which was shared via social media after the fact — offered a few ideas bound to do more harm than good.
