Finish fourth as team; Stack runs to third among men

Western Cross Country — The Western Colorado University women, ranked sixth going into the NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships, outran their ranking to make the podium with a fourth-place finish this past Saturday in Sacramento, Calif.

Western had three All-Americans in Saturday's races — including Taylor Stack with a third-place finish for the men and Charlie Sweeney in 11th. The Western men finished seventh as a team.

Leading the charge and earning All-American status among the women, Alexia Thiros was the top finisher for the Mountaineers as she crossed the line in 20:58 to earn 39th place.

Finishing just three spots back from Thiros was redshirt freshman Katie Doucette, clocking a time of 21:01.0 to earn 42nd place.

Both Alyssa Tatum and Hannah Mae Gigstad finished in the top 50 to keep the pack tight for Western. Tatum finished 46th in a time of 21:03.7, with Gigstad finishing 49th in 21:06.5.
