It was a successful weekend for the West Elk 19U girls hockey team, which picked up their first and second wins of the season against Hyland Hills at home in a three-game series. In game one, a goal from Sydney Frias early in the first period was all the Wolverines needed to seal the victory. Neither team allowed another goal. In the second contest, similar to the first, the Wolverines got on the board in the first period — thanks to Ruby Barron’s goal on a Frias assist — then cooled off in the second period. In the third period, the Wolverines’ offense erupted.
