Vicki Carol Goss (Leon), was born Oct. 10, 1948 to Dan and Martha Leon of Delta, Colo. She grew up in Delta and graduated from high school in 1967. Two weeks after graduation on June 4, she married the love of her life, Melvin Goss. They then moved to Grand Junction where their first child was born. In April 1970, they moved to Gunnison where they built a life, and welcomed three more children.
Vicki was an industrious, loving and devoted wife, mother, nana, and memaw first! Vicki enjoyed cooking, sewing, painting, and many outdoor activities. She also helped her husband run a successful local business. Her true passion was serving her God, Jehovah, to the fullest extent of her ability. She was a regular pioneer side by side with her husband for 27 years. Vicki shared with others the good news of the kingdom that Jehovah promises through his word, the Bible. One of the promises she shared is that Jehovah is going to resurrect those who have fallen asleep in death!
Vicki was courageous and strongly battled her illness, but sadly succumbed to it and fell asleep in death on Jan. 20. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Melvin,; her four children, Shaneen, Shayne, Shaytece and Nicole,; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren,; her mother Martha,; sister Sylvia and brother Danny along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Daniel Leon.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, Feb. 3 at 3 p.m. at the Gunnison Fairgrounds Multipurpose Building 275 S. Spruce St. in Gunnison. A dinner will follow the service.
