Veronica Bernadette Marquez, 60, passed away on Jan. 22 at her home of many years here in Gunnison. She was born Feb. 4, 1959 In Fort Collins, Colo., then moved with family to start her life in Gunnison. Veronica attended the Gunnison school system and graduated from Gunnison High School.

Veronica was one of the hardest workers the world has ever seen, spending her last many years at Western Colorado University cleaning floors, shoveling snow, or just jokingly harassing the student body, (mostly student athletes and coaches). If Veronica was not at work, she was with her dog Ozzy and or traveling to see Western sports, or she may be planning a trip to drive up the coast just because she wanted to. She saw concerts and comedy shows and much more. Veronica was always up for a drive.

Veronica is survived by her mother “Fern” White; son and family Joshua M. Marquez and Brandy L. Marquez, Kirsten Nobel, and Alexis N. Duke; father of her son Mike Marquez; Donald and Trish White, Isabel and Will Thibaut, “Harry” White, Loren White; her god-children Angela Miller, Joey Thibaut, “Trini” White; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at the University Center North Ballroom at Western on Friday, Feb. 7 from 5-7 p.m.
