Venus lost her courageous battle with breast cancer on Oct. 27 at the age of 57. Venus passed away at her home in Australia surrounded by family.
Venus moved with her family to the Gunnison area in 1967. She graduated from Gunnison High School and moved to Denver in her early twenties. She attended school and worked as a hairstylist until she met her husband Mark, a native of Australia. Venus moved to Australia with her husband in 1986. There they raised three children and she ran a hair salon out of her home for many years.
Venus had a kind heart and a beautiful spirit. She loved to visit with people. She could have a conversation with anyone who had a minute to sit down. She loved the Rocky Mountains and the small community of Gunnison where she grew up. She also loved the rugged coastline of Australia and spent many happy hours with friends and family on the beaches of eastern Australia.
Venus is survived by her husband Mark of Sydney, Australia, children Tommy (Shell), Krissy and Lakota Kalogjera of Australia, mother Marilyn Greenwood of Gunnison, sister Dawn Delany of Gunnison, nieces Grace Delany of Gunnison and Jacqui Jeffery (Kale) of League City, Texas, nephew Ben Delany of Gunnison, great niece and nephew Brielle and Kyler Jeffery of League City, Texas as well as her in-laws, many cousins, aunts, uncles, friends and neighbors.
