GHS earns sixth as a team in Walsenburg

GHS Wrestling — A year or two of experience under an athlete’s belt can do wonders. Just ask the Gunnison High School (GHS) wrestling team.

So far this season, GHS has had two top-three finishes in tournaments and now adds an impressive sixth place finish — out of 22 teams — to their resume. At this point last season, the Cowboys had just one top-five team finish.

The team’s overall placement isn’t the only thing that has improved this season. Three wrestlers — sophomore Jared Van Hee, senior Tyler Laudick and junior Zeb Alexander — have made great strides from last year.
