Last year brought big things for Gunnison Valley transportation company Alpine Express and its owner Landon Ogilvie. Last July, Alpine became the operator of expanded bus service between Gunnison and Denver called “Bustang” — a route which more recently added a stop at Monarch Mountain.
Additionally, Alpine operates the Gunnison Valley Rural Transportation Authority’s (RTA) bus service between Gunnison and Mt. Crested Butte, and the current winter season saw a 50 percent increase in trips over 2017-18.
Alpine also acquired Crested Butte Limo last June, and Alpine is now sister companies with Montrose-based Telluride Express. But even bigger things are on the horizon for the company in the year ahead. This coming spring’s RTA bus routes are slated to increase from eight to 13.
